A charming miniature print of Madame Louise de France, Daughter of Louis XV After Jean Marc Nattier in an oval brass frame.
Inspired by the mid-18th-century court portraits painted by the celebrated French Rococo artist Jean-Marc Nattier. During the late Victorian, Edwardian, and Grand Tour eras, it became highly fashionable to reproduce famous portraits of the French court on a miniature scale. This one is housed behind glass in an oval brass frame featuring a prominent ribbon-crest bow at the top. The print has sun bleaching hence the blue tone. The back has original red velvet in good condition.
This piece was hand sourced by me in September during a four day sourcing trip around northern Milan, and imported as a selected collection (aka the tiny amount of items I was able to fit into my hand luggage). I chose pieces based on what I love and would style in my own home. I began sourcing vintage professionally earlier this year, but I began collecting in my early 20’s. Living in an old house in the Norfolk countryside has led me to countless antique shops, vintage markets and museum gift shops (my secret for replica artefacts and the highest quality painting replicas of Old Masters).
