Mini Cicada Curio Dome
The cutest little display domes, made entirely in miniature - real glass and cork bases just like the bigger ones. In each one I display a preserved cicada shed. Each one is entirely unique, so the pictures are as a reference for scale and examples.
I collected these in Corfu, Greece in 2022 from an olive grove on the coast. I managed to get some home to the UK intact, made a little batch of curio domes that summer. Then lost track of them in my studio. Luckily they turned up while I was clearing out old stock and are still intact, so I have another little batch some four years later. The dried grasses and seedpods they are clinging to are the original ones from that olive grove too. I collected each one very carefully and wanted them to look just like they did as I found them. I believe they are most likely to be the ash cicada (Cicada orni).
