One of three concept pieces. This is a unique display of a Madagascan sunset moth (C. ripheus) on a mirror, encased in a bubble dome. The reflection shows the insect as it would have been in flight, but when viewed from the front the moth is surrounded by reflection and light.
I surgically bisected the moth by hand, using a medical grade scalpel to ensure precision. I then set or ‘pinned’ the specimen into a flight position. Once dried, the final piece is assembled by hand. All work is done by me in my garden studio in Norfolk, England.
Suitable for display out of direct sunlight - bright light can cause fading on natural specimens.
