This collection started as a project for, and inspired by, my own home décor. My house is over 350 years old and was once the village forge, and my garden studio was a bicycle shop in Victorian times. Minimalism was never going to suit it (or me), and so my quest to fill it with antiques and historical art began. However this project has developed from just my own home décor, into a full Collection. For the last year I have been sourcing frames and artwork, predominantly prints, of woodcuts, botanical illustrations, etchings, paintings and photographs from antique fairs across Norfolk. Once this collection had been conceived as something to release however, I began sourcing on my travels in Europe. Some of these originate from Paris, France and Turin, Italy. Although most are from my beloved home of Norfolk. The beautiful English countryside I am surrounded by inspires so much of my work, and curating this collection is no different.
I have paired each picture with a complimentary frame, meaning every one is unique and a one-off. Most of the frames are vintage (as are most of the mounts too). However for some I have chosen new frames or cut new mounts myself where I had a specific aesthetic in mind to best work with the image. For each one I have researched the image and given details of the origins as far as I can, such as the age and original artist. Please note none of the pieces I have available are originals - those will all be in museums. These are various reproductions, replicas and reprints made throughout the 1900’s. Any featuring insects are images and not real preserved insects, those can be found under the ‘Framed Preserved Insects’ category on my website.
