This insect was set, mounted and framed by me in my Norfolk garden studio. This would be beautiful addition to your home, office or studio.
(Top) The Broad Green-Banded Swallowtail (Papilio chrapkowskoides nurettini). A member of the family Papilionidae, first named by Doubleday in 1865 (formerly: Papilio bromius); updated by Storace in 1952; Koçak, 1983. The wings have a beautiful velvety base colour of black with iridescent blue bars and markings. The undersides are black with a row of cream spots on verso hind-wing margin. The wingspans for this beautiful species are around 80mm. It originates from Cameroon and the Central African Republic.
(Bottom) The Blue-Banded Swallowtail (Papilio oribazus). A gorgeous swallowtail from the family Papilionidae. The species was first described by Jean Baptiste Boisduval in 1836. The wings are a rich black with iridescent blue bars, and row of blue spots on margin on hind-wings. The wingspan is between 65-75mm. They are native to eastern Madagascar, where thier habitat consists of forests and forest margins.
Frame dimensions 19x19cm (7.5”x7.5”). Wall hanging, glass removed for photos to avoid glare, all frames ship with glass.
