A fine pair of miniature wall plaques. Matching oval pieces with pastoral landscape prints by renowned late 19th-century Italo-Swiss artist Luigi Chialiva.
The artwork is beautifully framed in heavily detailed, Florentine-style pierced openwork frames with a rich, tarnished gold leaf finish. The reverses are beautifully preserved with deep burgundy velvet backings and integrated metal ring hangers. Perfect for creating a curated gallery wall alongside antique portraits, natural specimens, or botanical illustrations.
Excellent vintage condition. The golden frames have a wonderful aged lustre with no major chips to the delicate scrolled filigree. The prints are clear, the protective convex ‘bubble glass’ covers are undamaged, and the velvet backing remains clean and vibrant. Sold as a pair.
These were hand sourced by me in September during a four day sourcing trip around northern Milan, and imported as a selected collection (aka the tiny amount of items I was able to fit into my hand luggage). I chose pieces based on what I love and would style in my own home. I began sourcing vintage professionally earlier this year, but I began collecting in my early 20’s. Living in an old house in the Norfolk countryside has led me to countless antique shops, vintage markets and museum gift shops (my secret for replica artefacts and the highest quality painting replicas of Old Masters).
