This ornate oval piece features a vibrant reproduction print of the classic Rococo masterpiece "The Four Ages of Man: Youth" by French master painter Jean-Baptiste Pater. The scene depicts an elegant gathering of courtiers in rich historical dress enjoying a sun-dappled afternoon by a grand stone park fountain.
The artwork is housed within a beautiful, Florentine-style pierced openwork frame. Finished in a rich, aged gold lustre, the frame features an authentic, time-worn patina. The reverse is constructed with its original wood veneer backing panel, metal retaining clips, and carries a stamped "MADE IN ITALY" mark of authenticity.
Good vintage condition. The ornate resin frame is structurally intact with a historic repair to the top right of the frame. The gold finish remains bright with vintage darkening in the recesses. The cover is clean and intact, and the backing board is securely held in place.
This piece was hand sourced by me in September during a four day sourcing trip around northern Milan, and imported as a selected collection (aka the tiny amount of items I was able to fit into my hand luggage). I chose pieces based on what I love and would style in my own home. I began sourcing vintage professionally earlier this year, but I began collecting in my early 20’s.
