Natural History Collection

My third Collection of work, these pieces have taken many months to create. From conceptualisation in mid-2023, through months of sourcing antique entomology collections and painstaking restorations to finally building replica habitats inspired by Victorian museum displays.

The colour palettes of the florals are influenced by the Norfolk countryside where I live. I have been collecting and drying flowers since the spring for these pieces. Some insects in these pieces date back as far as the late 1800’s, although most are between 70-50 years old. Each piece will come with details of the insects and their origins.

Mixed species of moth, butterflies, beetles and other insects. Large glass cloche on mango wood base.

Dome dimensions 26cm height x 17cm diameter. Glass removed for photos to avoid glare, will be shipped with glass dome.

The jewel of the Collection. This piece houses dozens of insects, dating between 1892-1984. Species include the rare British stag beetles, cinnabar and spotted burnet moths both with cocoons. Several species of ladybird, two of which are pinned in flight. Beautiful species of British butterflies and moths in complimentary colours, against a setting of neutral wildflowers and mosses. This piece is truly one of a kind, the largest mixed species display I have ever created.
